Q: Tell us about yourself.
If you know me; you know that IAAP is MY jam! I have been a member since 2001. I have been exposed to endless professional development opportunities, accredited certification, and have met the most fabulous individuals through my membership in IAAP.I have worked for the University of Kansas Health System for 25 years. My strong skills foundation can be attributed to the valuable professional development resources available through IAAP. Anyone in an admin position that I cross paths with will hear about IAAP. I have served in a variety of leadership positions in IAAP and it was my pleasure to serve as Director at Large on the IAAP Board of Directors 2016-2018.
Q: How did you first get involved with the Foundation?
My support of the IAAP Foundation goes way back to when it was the Retirement Trust Foundation (RTF).It is very easy to support the IAAP Foundation as my personal values align with their mission. I have always participated in a variety of fundraisers to benefit the IAAP Foundation. As a Summit scholarship recipient, I feel it is important to contribute in order to pay it forward so other deserving admins can experience Summit.
Q: What is one way you have chosen to support the Foundation?
I endeavor to support the IAAP Foundation as best I can by participating in fundraisers and serving as a Foundation Ambassador. As an Ambassador I can help highlight the important work being done by the Foundation and promote the variety of ways to provide financial support.
Q: What do you love about the Foundation and why do you choose to support it?
The Mission of the IAAP Foundation is meaningful and resonates with me. It is so easy to contribute financially to the Foundation. I support through organized fundraisers and an annual contribution easily budgeted through monthly donations. I can honor special IAAP friends and mentors through memorial donations to the Foundation. A personal favorite is the Foundation’s support of admins in need and housing for retired administrative professionals at Vista Grande located in Rio Rancho, NM. If you aren’t familiar with Della Herring’s story, you can read about her vision and Vista Grande on the IAAP Foundation website.
At Summit 2019, I contributed to a fundraiser that paid off in the best way – a meet and greet with RoseMarie Terenzio, assistant to John F. Kennedy, Jr. and author of Fairytale Interrupted. It was a wonderful experience, complete with a photo and an autographed copy of the book. A real win-win.
Q: What would you want someone else to know about the Foundation?
The IAAP Foundation is a strategic partner with IAAP. The IAAP Foundation makes a positive and life changing impact through their committed support of IAAP, its members, the profession as well as admins across the world, most recently providing a grant to the World Administrator Alliance Taskforce.
